Milan Fashion Week Standout Instagram moments

It wouldn’t be fashion week without some extravaganza whether that’s in the form of a dramatic light filled show, a simple beauty statement or a runway moment. In Milan, brands played to their strengths and created noteworthy and highly Instagrammable moments.

Gucci

It was a high voltage show, literally, where lights were flashing and pulsating to the music. Many said it was a blinding and visually heavy experience as models came out wearing face masks that added to the sharp 40s tailoring in his collection. There were still echos of Alessandro Michele’s granny-chic aesthetic through bright colors and eclectic pairing, however, clothes were more structured and streamlined.

Prada

Miuccia Prada does no wrong, and whatever her take on women may be, she always delivers. This season, she explored the ‘Anatomy of Romance’ and while there were literal references, such as the flowers that bloomed up the sides of crips shirt dressers, on the lapels of blazers or exploding from midi skirts, she also looked at love’s dark side. She did this by using black as a foundation, whether that was in the form of all black looks, or as a lace overlay, and she also juxtaposed light silky fabrics with stiff wool and gabardine numbers.

Max Mara

Politics often informs fashion, and at Max Mara said it all with its Nancy Pelosi power coat, an image that went viral when she wore it to a meeting with Donald Trump. This time, there was more than one, power coats walked in neutral colors to bright yellow, turquoise royal blue in different iterations: teddy and wool coats. Clothes continued to empower with their boxy silhouettes, strong shoulders and fluid pants.
